What are Profiles?
Profiles are authority files that enable you to create and utilize controlled language throughout your collection. Establish Profiles for key pieces of information, such as people and places, to ensure your data is standardized, consistent, and searchable.
Users with Owner, Admin, Read/Write, and Editor permissions can add and edit Profiles.
While there are a multitude of Profile types in CatalogIt, here are some of the most commonly used types:
- Accession: capture important data on your accessions
- Exhibition: plan your exhibitions; easily reference all associated objects
- Person: record biographical information on donors, creators, authors, and users
- Place: maintain standardized, hierarchical locations across records
- Publication: record information like author, publisher, and publication date
- Collection: manage and view items within collections
- Loan-in: track details of items loaned by other organizations, such as shipping information
- Event: Record information about important events, such as location, date, and parties involved
- Deaccession: Record information such as deaccession dates and disposal methods
- Organization: input information such as address, contact information, website URLs, and dates of operation
Note: some Profiles are only available for certain account types.
